JOB OVERVIEW
The Drafting Specialist position will play a pivotal role in transforming design concepts into detailed, production-ready drawings and specifications for the Duchateau Design Division European modular cabinetry projects. This role will collaborate closely with our design and production teams to ensure that our clients' visions are translated into reality, while adhering to the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
- This position is a 100% on-site position, located in the Miramar/Mira Mesa area of San Diego.
- Pay range: $24 to $28 per hour, based on experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Drafting and Design Development: Create accurate and detailed technical drawings, blueprints, and 3D models using CAD software, ensuring compliance with European modular cabinetry standards and specifications.
- Collaborative Communication: Work closely with designers, architects, and project managers to understand project requirements, design intent, and functional needs, providing input and recommendations where necessary.
- Material and Component Selection: Assist in selecting appropriate materials, hardware, and accessories to meet design and budgetary requirements, while maintaining the integrity of European modular cabinetry aesthetics.
- Quality Control: Review and revise drawings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with project specifications, industry standards, and manufacturing capabilities.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to production teams, addressing any questions or clarifications related to the drafting documents and facilitating smooth project execution.
- Documentation and Records: Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all drafting-related documents, revisions, and correspondence to ensure project traceability and accountability.
- Continual Learning: Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in European modular cabinetry to enhance knowledge and skills.
Education
- Associate degree or equivalent in Drafting, Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes and regulations is a plus.
Competencies
- Strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to learn new technologies.
- Excellent Microsoft Office Suite capabilities.
- Proven experience in drafting, with a focus on European modular cabinetry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and 3D modeling tools.
- Strong understanding of European cabinetry design principles, hardware, and manufacturing techniques.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
Experience
- Five or more years’ experience in interior design to include familiarity with construction documents and interior design specifications
- Experience in remodeling houses
- Exterior design experience
- Proficiency in Auto-CAD. Revit a plus.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- Demonstrated experience exceeding customer service standards

JOB OVERVIEW
This position will entail a passion for design and a sensibility that resonates with Duchateau Design Studio. The ideal candidate will have strong 2D/AutoCAD knowledge, as well as experience in custom cabinets and have a general understanding of interior design and construction.
- This position is a 100% on-site position, located in the Miramar/Mira Mesa area of San Diego.
- Pay range: $20 to $23 per hour, based on experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Implement the use of the Duchateau Design Studio drafting standards.
- Procedures relating to factory support.
- Knowledge of cabinet industry.
- Able to work independently with our team of designers on various projects.
- Produce detailed and assembly drawings for fabrication.
- Prioritize and manage drafting tasks to support various projects.
- Scheduled due dates for the project drawings.
- Attend design reviews and related project meetings (as requested).
- Coordinate drafting workload with project managers as needed to support the prevailing workload.
- Prepare weekly reports listing the projects pipeline.
- Walk-through of client’s home that are looking for addition and more.
- Estimate writing and selling of products and services.
- Budget planning advice and material sourcing.
- Detail construction material design plan.
- Detail hard materials list and call outs.
- Full estimate of specified materials
Education
- Associate degree required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
