Aether

The ancient Greeks saw the realm above the clouds as Aether, a place of bright and pure air. We developed this floor color in search of a beige unclouded and free of surface haze, blending a flow of tones into a subtler, softer shade. The composition we seek is without grey, pink, or yellow, but finds an almost indescribable balance that gives it its buoyant and ethereal quality. A quiet embodiment of the brilliant upper sky.

Sublime Ether, best cosmic element,
Radiant, luminous, starlit offspring,
I call upon you and I beseech you
to be temperate and clear.

– The Fifth Orphic Hymn, addressed to Aether

High Variation
One of the characteristics of an extraordinary floor is the variation from plank to plank, which makes your space come alive.  The individual tannins in each board along with the time of year it is produced all add to this natural beauty.  You should expect this variation in each Atelier floor.  Take a look using our Visualizer.

Depth and Richness
Our proprietary techniques are used to manipulate and enrich the wood from within to create colors with extraordinary depth and richness. The various reactive processes are meticulously applied to every plank which elicits a uniquely Atelier response from the wood. Every Atelier floor tells a story all its own.

Finish
Unlike urethane finishes, our finishes allow the wood to breathe. They create beautiful matte finishes and offer a lifetime of enjoyment when maintained properly.  Our finishes also allow easy spot treatments if needed to keep your floor looking amazing.

Patina
The tannins in our planks continue to evolve and change. As your Atelier floor ages, it will become richer in color and develop a natural patina that is unique to your floor. Like a fine wine, it improves with age.
