The UV Lacquer finish used on floors from The Guild has been designed to be easy to care for and maintain, ensuring that the floor will be a beautiful addition to your home for years to come. Just follow these easy tips and instructions:
DAILY CLEANING
For regular upkeep of your floor, a simple dry sweeping or vacuuming is the first step. If you are using a vacuum without a suction only hard floor attachment, the beater brush must be turned off to avoid scratching or damaging the floor. You should NEVER steam clean a wood floor.
WEEKLY/BI-WEEKLY CLEANING
We recommend the use of Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner or a similar no-rinse sealed hardwood floor cleaner. Make sure the product you choose is specifically formulated for polyurethane or UV lacquered floors.
Do not use Duchateau Premium Floor Cleaner & Protectant – this product is formulated only for use on Duchateau oil-finished floors. Also avoid using and oil soaps, liquid or paste wax products, or any cleaners that contain lemon oil, tung oil, silicone or ammonia, as they will dull your floor and possibly damage the finish.
MAINTENANCE TIPS
A high-quality, untreated dust mop is one of the most important items for regular maintenance, since built up grit can scratch the surface of the floor. Dry dust frequently, and do not “wet” clean to remove dust.
Never use steel wool, abrasive pads, cleaners, or detergents, and wipe up any spills as quickly as possible.
Grease, tar, lipstick and crayon can usually be removed with a cloth that his been lightly dampened with mineral spirits. Test first on a leftover piece of flooring, or in an inconspicuous corner.
Minimize scratches and dents by using felt or other protective pads beneath anything that contacts the floor. If using casters, use one-inch wide or larger soft rubber or urethane casters or rollers.
