JOB OVERVIEW

This highly visible supply chain role will perform all the Duchateau Demand and Inventory Planning functions.

The Planner works closely with the Director of Operations to plan, execute, monitor and control all aspects of the international supply chain for the Company.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Work with management team to review sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, and evaluate forecast results.
  • Research, plan and control all inventory activities.
  • Review and report on inventory absorption rates and make recommendations regarding adjustments to min-max, MOQ, etc.
  • Communicate clear expectations to international factory partners and hold them accountable for meeting agreed production lead times, compliance activities and delivery schedules.
  • Monitor factories with purchasing agreements structured with DDP incoterms to ensure that all international ocean container sailings are booked with best in class steam ship line transit times.
  • Identify and define the state of business relationships with all pre-existing freight forwarders and logistics partners.
  • Continuously improve forecasting techniques, methods and approach.
  • Evolve and maintain documentation and standard operating procedures for demand and inventory planning processes and systems.
  • Assemble and analyze all data pertinent to creating the sales forecast (historical sales, right sizing sales data for extended stock-out periods, market trends, seasonality, promotions, new product introductions, etc.).
  • Be part of NPI team to support material supply planning to ensure successful product launches.
  • Manage the transition of products from NPI to EOL.
  • Help to identify inefficiencies within the supply chain and develop practical solutions.
  • Make recommended adjustments to forecast and inventory targets based on changes in demand and market trends.
  • Lead forecast and inventory planning meetings and executive summaries (KPI’s, forecast accuracy, inventory plan vs. targets, stock out risks).
  • Monitor SKU levels and recommend SKU rationalization initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain a Master Schedule to track orders, incoming inventory, sales forecast, quarantined inventory, Sample Board production and deployment, and drop-ship orders.
  • Measure & maintain key performance indicators (KPI’s) for department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Economics / Business / Supply Chain preferred).
  • An inventory, demand planning, or supply chain degree or bona fide certification is strongly preferred e.g. APICS Certified.

Requirements

  • 5+ years related experience in master scheduling, forecasting, procurement, and planning.
  • Experience using NetSuite, Netstock, SAP, or other ERP statistical software packages.
  • Advanced Excel experience manipulating spreadsheet data using filters, functions (VLookup, Pivot, etc.) and worksheet formulas.
  • Knowledge of key inventory performance metrics, turns, margin contributions, etc.
  • Knowledge of demand management/forecasting tools, forecasting processes in sales, marketing operations, finance, manufacturing and supply chain issues.
  • Strong knowledge of demand planning process in a related industry. Experience with 90+ day lead times, customer orders that range from x units to 100x units, sourcing internationally, import delays, planning and ordering in preparation for Chinese New Year’s, incoterms, etc.
  • Collaborative skills in resolving long and short positions in inventory.
  • Ability to effectively manage changing and conflicting priorities and resolve appropriately.
  • Highly self-motivated, excels working autonomously and operates effectively in any organizational structure.
